District Courts

The District Courts: The district courts have original Jurisdiction (they hear cases first), there are 91 of them and there in one of each state. They hear about 350,000 cases a year.
Court of Appeals: is divided into 12 judical circuits and is made up of a panel of 3 judges. This court is not looking for guilt or innocence but to correct errors made at the district level.
The Supreme Court: Consists of 9 justices, there are 8 associate justices and 1 cheif justice. (cheif is boss) hear cases to resolve national conflicts and disbutes between states. One can only become a supreme court justice if they are nominated by the president.
